Background

VisitBritain is the UK's national tourism agency, funded by the Department for Culture, Media and Sport. It is responsible for promoting tourism worldwide and developing the UK's inbound tourism economy. Inbound tourism accounts for over 32.8 million visits per annum, with an average spend per visit of £640 last year. As part of its global promotional strategy, Yahoo turned to Hangar Seven to create a series of iconic films that encapsulate all that makes Britain Great, targeting younger overseas travellers.                                                                                  

                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                          

 

Solution

We created an eight part online travel series with each episode focusing on a different part of Britain's vibrant cultural scene and taking viewers off the beaten track to challenge their preconceptions of what Britain is all about. The films take the audience on a whirlwind tour of Britain, introducing them to some amazing characters and quirky places. The films can be enjoyed as an escapist travelogue or be used to help plan a visit.

 

Results

The films are airing on Yahoo's sites in the US, Middle East, Brazil and all key European territories. All eight films were concepted, scripted, shot and delivered in two months and have received thousands of views with visitor enquiries increasing dramatically - all great news for Britain.
